Christina + Carl • Block Island Wedding Photography

Block Island: not exactly Philly. It took a (very long) train ride, a (really really long and bumpy) ferry ride, and some serious packing skills to get up to this little island off the cost of RI for Christina + Carl’s beach wedding. The morning of the wedding, I headed over to Summer Hill, an old home in the middle of the island, where Christina was getting ready. The house, like the island its situated on, was rich in history and fun little details. The day was beautiful – the weather cleared after a week of rain and wind, setting the backdrop for this stunning wedding. Meanwhile, Carl got dressed nearby at a friend’s house with the couple’s pup, from which he headed over to Ballard’s to set up the decorations he made (MADE!!!) for the wedding, including the invitations, table placements, card box, and guest book (talented groom!). Soon it was time for their ceremony on the beach – sun shining overhead, the couple said their vows, accompanied by a pair of readings from their friends and their family. Then it was off to the bluffs on the island with Christina and Carl – 150-foot sheer cliffs overlooking the sea. The photos we took were nothing short of breathtaking, and we made sure to stop by the island’s ferry depot for a fun photo in front of a buoy-covered wall. The reception was tons of fun and the food served was phenomenal (this is Block Island, people… lobster, filet, and swordfish, oh my!) I got a moment to get some photos of the sunset outside of Ballard’s before cake cutting, and as the reception began to wind down, the guests were surprised with bonfires on the beach and s’mores to dig in to. Enjoy these photos – this post’s a good one!
